On August 24 BenQ announced that it will spin off its IMS (Integration Manufacturing and Service) unit in 2007 to focus on its BMG (BenQ Mobile Business Group) and DMG (Digital Media Business Group) divisions. The IMS unit will be responsible for BenQ's contract manufacturing business in computing and consumer electronics and will become an affiliate company by the second half of 2007. The DMG unit will concentrate on own-branded product R&D, while the BMG's business scope will basically remain unchanged.
